Rubro-Negro edged Coritiba by a 1-0 scoreline at Couto Pereira on Saturday after a slightly improved performance. The only goal of the game was scored by Arrascaeta.
Coritiba started the game with the upper foot in Alto da Glória,
causing troubles for Domenèc’s team. In the 4th minute, a free kick was awarded. Galdezani rose took it beautifully and put Caesar to work.
Shortly afterwards, in the 12th minute, another scoring opportunity was presented but César managed to save Robson’s shot after he beat Rodrigo Caio.
Coritiba’s dominance didn’t last long. Fla took over the game and showed signs of that imposing Flamengo side of 2019. Rubro-Negro began to dominate and possession the ball to create chances to open up the scoring.
Fla’s dominance soon payed off, they got their opening goal of the game in the first half. After a good exchange of passes on the left, Bruno Henrique tried to feed Gabriel with the ball in the area but the center forward failed to connect and put it away. However, Arrascaeta got the ball and with his left foot and scored his first red-black goal in the Brasileirão.
In the second half, the away team struggled to keep the ball under control. Having spaces in between the lines in the middle, Eduardo Barroca’s team was unable to capitalize on their dominance.
Things went sore, after almost committing a penalty, Cortiba had a player sent off, Rafinha’s substitute took the second yellow card and was dismissed.
With that victory, Flamengo get their first three points of the competition and lie in tenth position on the table. Eduardo Barroca’s Coxa with three defeats sits at the bottom of the table.
