In the beginning, only few chances were created and it looked to be an open game for a while. However, things changed in the second half. The Rubro-negro carioca came back better, imposed itself and scored three times in the space of minutes. 3-0 win with goals from Pedro and Gustavo Henrique led the team to the Serie A vice-leadership.
The first half left no real activity or action. The best chances of this half came with a header from Marcão in the 22nd minute by Leão, and another one from Pedro five minutes later by Fla.
Flamengo came back better in the second stage. Coincidentally, their performances got better with the taking off of Sander who complained of pain.
In a short while, Sport were hit fast by Flamengo and conceded three times in nine minutes. Two by Pedro and one by Gustavo Henrique. The Lion still tried to react, only that the changes had little effect. The team created opportunities and, despite the fast pace, could not do anything of note. A perfect evening for Flamengo who kept the score at 3-0.
With the result, Flamengo assumes the vice-leadership of the Brasileirão, with 24 points. Three behind Atlético-MG. Sport, in turn, remained at 20 and ended up overtaken by Santos and São Paulo. The Lion is seventh in the table.
At the weekend, Flamengo visits Vasco in São Januário on Saturday. Sport returns to Recife and receives Botafogo on Sunday. The matches will be valid for the 15th round of the Brasileirão.
