With four goals, ten yellow cards, and a well-balanced game that reflects on the table, AbelHernández and Galhardo scored for Internacional while PedroandEverton responded for Flamengo.
In the first half, the game intensity was high, and the pace of the two teams dictated the early stages. Internacional started with the upper hand giving Flamengo no space to operate and Abel Hernández converted a big chance early on in the game and scored in the 7th minute.
The home side’s lead was short lived. In the 11th minute, Flamengo equalized with a beautiful goal from Pedro in an individual play from the forward.
Pedro got the ball from the midfield, advanced to the goal and placed his shot pass Lomba making 1-1.
In the 25th minute, Inter took the lead yet again with a beautiful play from Gustavo Henrique who tipped the ball to Thiago Galhardo. The forward scored taking his tally to 15 goals in the Brasileirão.
Inter further had a goal disallowed for impediment, ending the first 45 minutes leading 2-1.
In the second half, Flamengo took the upper hand. Gérson rose up and led the team’s attack.
Inter later got a chance to kill the game after a wonderful play from Guilherme and Patrick but the latter wasted the chance and parried the ball away.
In the 94th minute, Flamengo were able to draw level from Everton Ribeiro header following a corner kick. The match finished 2-2.
Internacional and Flamengo are both on 35 points in first place, three points above Atlético-MG who have a goal in hand. Flamengo goes against Tricolor Paulista in Maracanã on Sunday while Inter visits Corinthians on Saturday.
