Flamengo have added another friendly to their schedule. Rubro-Negro will play the Philadelphia Union on Sunday, January 21, at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida, as part of the “FC Series” during their preseason tour in the United States. The Rio de Janeiro giants had also scheduled a friendly match against Orlando City on January 27 at Exploria Stadium.
Those are so far the only games Mengao will take part in during their stay in the US. The club was reportedly close to arranging a friendly match against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, but the South Beach team ultimately set up meetings against Dallas, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Vissel Kobe, and Newell’s Old Boys.

Flamengo returns to the US
Flamengo will return to the States after five years, and their last visit to North America brings them great memories. In what turned out to be a magical season as they ended up celebrating both the Brasileirao and Libertadores titles, the Brazilian giants started 2019 by winning the Florida Cup, a friendly tournament in which they faced Ajax (2-2) and Eintracht Frankfurt (1-0).
Hopefully, this trip brings the club the same kind of luck. Following a chaotic 2023 season full of up and downs, Tite aims to take the team back to glory days in his first full season at the helm. Flamengo’s first official game of the 2024 campaign is scheduled for Jan. 17 against Audax Rio de Janeiro EC in the first matchday of the Carioca tournament.
