Matheus França only needed a few games at Flamengo to draw interest from Europe. Though many clubs have been linked with the midfielder this year, it looks like Crystal Palace will win the battle for the 19-year-old. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the player is already in the UK to undergo a medical test.
The Eagles will reportedly pay a €20 million fixed fee to the Rio de Janeiro-based club, who could also receive €5 million in add-ons. On top of that, Mengao will have 20% on a future transfer and would receive another €5 million if França wins the Ballon d"Or.

Matheus França"s path to the Premier League
The young midfielder has scored three goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for Flamengo this season. He was under contract until 2027, but his lack of playing time – França was mostly used as a substitute – made the team accept the idea of cashing in now. It"s a shame Mengao couldn"t see one of their products blossom into a star with their colors, but at least they"re getting a fair compensation.

It will be interesting to see how França settles in the Premier League, and whether he"ll be part of Crystal Palace"s first team plans this season. The London-based outfit finished 11th last term, 11 points clear of relegation spots.
