Both teams were up for the task of scoring goals but braces from Pedro, Arrascaeta and a goal from Everton Ribeiro was just enough to seal the victory for Domènec Torrent’s men.
The first half left room for plenty to talk about with five goals scored in the space of 45 minutes.
Flamengo started brightly and got a good start via a goal from Pedro. In the 16th minute, the Brazilian forward scored his second of the night to put Fla 2-0 up. Rodriguinho got one back for Bahia in the 32nd minute but Arrascaeta restored the two-goal cushion five minutes later. Three minutes from half time, Elber grabbed another for Bahia to put the score at 3-2 in favor of Flamengo going into half time.
Flamengo started the second half the same way they did the first and left Bahia with no time to respond. Just three minutes into the half, Everton Ribeiro grabbed the fourth goal for Fla. He indeed had a great outing on the pitch. Bahia barely had time to think of comeback before Arrascaeta grabbed his second and Flamengo’s fifth of the game.
Daniel Sampaio grabbed one for Bahia in the 90th minute but it only turned out to be a consolation goal.
With the result, Flamengo moved to 11 points and lie in fifth place on the Brasileirão standings. Their next outing comes on Saturday when they take on Fortaleza in Maracanã. On the other hand, Bahia dropped to 12th position and remains at eight points. They will visit leaders Inter on Sunday at Beira-Rio.
