Flamengo beats Vasco in Tite’s first match with the club at the Maracanã

Gerson scored the only goal of the match in the Rio de Janeiro derby

Flamengo took to the field yesterday (22) against Vasco, in the 29th round of the Brazilian Championship, and won the Classic of Millions by 1-0. The red-black goal was scored by Gerson, 30 minutes into the second half. After the victory, Flamengo reached 50 points and is now in third place in the tournament.

This was coach Tite’s first match with the club at the Maracanã stadium.

The game

After just 8 minutes, Léo Pereira made a beautiful pass to Wesley, who crossed to Pedro, but the attacker narrowly missed the ball. Both teams were scoring well, until Arrascaeta suffered a foul close to the area; shirt 14 hit dangerously, taking paint off the opponent’s post.

At 28, Arrascaeta again drove through the midfield, being well marked and suffering a foul. This time, Pulgar charged and the ball deflected, heading for a corner. Then, in the 35th minute, Gerson found a beautiful cross for Arrascaeta, who headed the ball past the goalkeeper.

The number 14 again appeared in Mengão’s attack. In the 30th minute, the midfielder received a pass from Bruno Henrique, who shot from outside the area, putting the opponent’s goal in danger.

At 42, Arrascaeta took a precise corner to Fabrício Bruno, who headed it; the goalkeeper saved and hit the post; on the rebound, the defender kicked again and the ball was saved, leaving it for Bruno Henrique, but the opposing defense took it to the baseline.

Flamengo started the second half by taking the initiative to attack. After 12 minutes, Wesley made a beautiful pass to Léo Pereira, who crossed, but the ball deflected, almost opening the score for Mengão. After Rubro-Negro’s quick exit, Gerson threw it to Bruno Henrique who cut to the middle and shot into the goalkeeper’s hands.

At 30, Thiago Maia found a pass for Gabigol on the left, who crossed into the area, but the defense cleared it poorly, leaving Gerson to open the scoring for Rubro-Negro.
