Versatile is the word that best describes Fernanda Palermo, who is back with the Brazilian national team to compete in the SheBelieves Tournament. The competition began on the 1st and runs until April 9 in the United States. Brazil is aiming for the unprecedented title, and the midfielder relies on her unique playing style to help the team.
Since taking over the national team, coach Arthur Elias has been making changes to the tactical system and conducting tests in all positions. In the Copa Ouro, there was no repetition of the lineup in all the matches played. “I believe that playing in more than one position really brings me more opportunities, and I like challenges. This is a position in which I have already played, but I really need some training to get used to it again, because it involves different skills that are used on the field. But I am ready to execute it in the best way,” she said.
With a focus on the Olympics, Fernanda also addressed her adaptation to the new coach’s playing style and expressed her desire to contribute to the team towards the international competition.
“I had the opportunity to face some major national teams in matches, and I believe that was important for me to understand the level and the differences between them. Arthur emphasizes this a lot within his playing style, strengthening our style and our qualities. I feel even more adapted because I have already been part of a previous cycle, with good chemistry with the girls and knowing the group,” she stated.
