Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel thrilled everyone with the tribute he paid to Ayrton Senna. The German drove the legendary McLaren MP4/8 that the Brazilian used in the 1993 season, at the peak of his sporting success.

“We still haven’t surpassed him,” Formula 1 posted, praising the tribute made on the Imola circuit, the track where Senna died on May 1, 1994, almost 30 years ago. “The tribute will live on in memory,” they added in their official social media accounts.

Vettel, who retired in 2022, made part of the lap with the Brazilian flag in his hand, to which he bowed after getting out of the single-seater used by Senna before moving on to the Williams team. He also wore the colors of Brazil on his custom helmet, which he merged with the colors of the German flag.

In his initiative, the former Red Bull and Ferrari driver also paid tribute to Austrian Roland Ratzenberger, who died a day before Senna, in the qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix race.

“I’m just trying to tell the story and remember him (Senna) and his colors, trying to inspire other drivers, the current ones, to remember him and be motivated by him. Thanks to that horrible weekend, strange as it may sound, people studied how to make the circuits safer,” Vettel said after the tribute.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
