There are still a few open spots in the Brazilian National Team as Pia Sundhage is making tests for each position. The defense is one of them. Rafaelle is guaranteed in the starting lineup, but Lauren and Kathellen are disputing to play alongside her.
In the training game against China, it was Kathellen who got to start. Lauren was ued later on. In an interview with Ge, she said that every player has the conditions to start the game and that her goal is to help Brazil in whenever way possible.
“All players have the ability to go out and play. We have a very strong squad, very competitive. This is built in training. All workouts are very competitive. It’s hard to play against yourself. This is very good for evolution. I go in and I can help like Kathellen, Rafaelle, Monica, on the ball exit, high balls for my stature. help as possible,” she analyzed.

Living the dream
Lauren celebrates the opportunity of playing in this year’s World Cup. She was in the U20 team last year, where Brazil finished third place in the Cup of its categorie. She was a starter in every game.
“It’s a bit of a cliché to say that phrase, but I’m really living a dream, a moment that I most waited for, wished for in my career like any athlete. I believe this is the pinnacle of the world of football. Happy, very grateful. Our team is growing a lot, evolving a lot. This is quite visible. Everyone sees it in training, in games. It’s cool that we’re growing up together. It’s very important,” she said.
Brazil plays against Panama in the first round of the World Cup on the 24th.
