Everton are still hoping to secure Premier League safety, which is why the stakes will be high when they host Bournemouth on Sunday. Sean Dyche’s men arrive in the final matchday just two points above Leicester City and Leeds United (31), who are both in relegation spots.

Even though the Toffees are still in a dramatic situation, the board has reportedly started to make plans for next season, including the prospect of appointing a new manager. Dyche’s days at Goodison Park would be numbered, with the team looking for a fresh start.

Everton reportedly interested in Luis Castro

According to Record Sport, the Everton executives have Botafogo boss Luis Castro on their radar as a potential candidate to take over in the summer. His team is currently doing great in Brazil, as it sits atop the Brasileirão table after seven rounds.

The Portuguese has been at the helm in Río de Janeiro since 2022, but before that, he had an interesting tenure around the world. Castro started his career in his country before taking the reins of Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, later working for Qatari club Al-Duhail.

However, the report claims the Everton board only held talks with Castro’s entourage but made no serious progress so far. With only one round left and Premier League survival at stake, we’ll probably have to wait before the Toffees make a decision on their future.
