Two years after making a successful debut for the Under-17 National Team, when he was still 15 years old, striker Endrick wants to make history again with Amarelinha. This time, the 17-year-old from Palmeiras is preparing in Teresópolis (RJ) with the Under-23s for the Pre-Olympic competition, in Venezuela, starting on the 20th.

On his debut for the national team, striker Endrick was elected the best player of the Montaigu Tournament, in 2022, in France, and also finished the dispute as the top scorer, with 5 goals scored. His performance alongside his teammates broke a 38-year streak without titles in the competition.

“It was a very important championship, not only for me, but for the whole team. The first championship of many. I hope the Pre-Olympic will also be wonderful,” said the player.

Despite his young age, Endrick has already played for the Brazilian Main Team, in addition to becoming one of the pillars of Palmeiras towards their second title in Brasileirão 2023. Now, the attacker’s mission is to help Brazil in the Pre-Olympic to guarantee classification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In preparation since Monday (8), Amarelinha debuts in the qualifying tournament on the 23rd against Bolivia, which forms Group A with Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador. The two best teams in each group advance to the final quadrangular, in which the top two teams secure a place in Paris. Brazil is the current two-time Olympic champion.

Working for the first time with Ramon Menezes, Endrick highlighted the group’s unity and stressed that he is willing to take responsibility for the team’s benefit.

“There’s no such thing as who is the greatest here. Everyone has the same expectations, the same equality within the team. As I always say, I like to be a reference within the team. Ever since I played at Palmeiras’ youth team, in the under-11s It’s something I like, having an active voice, being a character. But there’s no one better than anyone else here”, highlighted Endrick.
