With his dramatic goal to defeat Mexico in a friendly, Endrick scored for the third consecutive time for the Brazilian national team, matching a record held by Pelé, achieving it before turning 18. However, the attacker is tired of hearing comparisons with “O Rei”.

“I always knew that you (the journalists) create your own things, create craziness. When I was younger, when I was 16, I looked at social media a lot, I’m not going to lie, and they kept comparing me with Vitor Roque, they kept comparing me with Pelé. Pelé was Pelé,” said the forward, who will join Real Madrid in July.

“You shouldn’t be compared to anyone, to me that’s ugly, and everyone has their own story, their reality, where they come from and what they have to go through to be able to play. And you want to keep comparing. Just let history be made. You Brazilians have to support us, we are doing everything we can so that you are with us. Watch the Brazil games again, cheer, and that’s what we want, not comparisons.”

Endrick talks about his current form with Brazil

Despite being fed up with comparisons in his country, the player trained at Palmeiras is happy with his current situation in the Selecao: “As for breaking records, I just want to play and help the national team. I don’t care about the records. I thank God for every minute I spend here with the national team. And every time I step on the field, it’s my playground.”

Moreover, he appeared calm despite the competition for a spot in the starting lineup: “We are a family. Today on the bench were Vini, me, Rodrygo, Paquetá, and then we played. We don’t know who will be the starter. Dorival knows and we will respect his decision. It doesn’t matter how the game goes, whoever plays five or 90 minutes, I know they will give their all for the team. And I hope we win the Copa América with the help of all the Brazilian people.”
