Manchester City did what was necessary in Germany to seal their ticket to the semi-finals of this UEFA Champions League, where they will face defending champions Real Madrid. A 1-1 draw was enough for Pep Guardiola’s men, who had beaten Bayern Munich 3-0 in England.
While in the first leg it was Erling Haaland, Rodrigo and Bernardo Silva who captured the attention, Ederson was one of the great figures of the rematch. So much so that the Manchester press only had words of praise for the Brazilian goalkeeper.

Ederson shines in the series against Bayern with nine saves
The Manchester Evening News rated Ederson’s performance an 8, placing him as one of the highlights of the evening: “Ederson made some big saves to keep Bayern at bay and slow the game down.”
The goalkeeper who emerged from São Paulo had certain key interventions, such as in the 57th minute when he prevented an attempt by Kingsley Coman, which later led to Haaland’s goal. Joshua Kimmich would beat his fence from the penalty spot at minute 83, but that did not tarnish his great performance.
It was, in general terms, a spectacular series for the goalkeeper of the Brazilian team. In all, he finished the series with nine saves. The next stop won’t be easy for City, but with Ederson at the post, they have reason to believe.
