Coach Dorival Júnior celebrated his first official win with the Brazilian National Team. And it was in grand style, with the team’s 4-1 rout over Paraguay on Friday night (28) in Las Vegas.

Valid for the second round of the Copa América group stage, the match was controlled by Brazil, who built the comfortable scoreline thanks to the efficiency of their attack.

“We didn’t have possession of the ball as in the previous match, but the effectiveness was greater. We created difficulties for the opponent. I made the switch of Paquetá with João from left to right and that gave freedom to Bruno Guimarães and Paquetá himself,” said Dorival, highlighting Vini Jr’s performance.

“Vini had practically a perfect match, with the creation of great plays and very dynamic moves. He was direct and participative. That’s what we want from players with individual qualities.”

For the coach, the victory over Paraguay will give the team peace of mind, as on Tuesday (2) they face Colombia in the dispute for the first place in Group D of the Copa América – the Colombians are in the lead with six points, the Brazilian National Team has four and is in second place.

“Everyone is well prepared. We will have a tough opponent, but we have to believe in our high-level players. And these boys honor the jersey and all deserve praise. I am yet to see a group so focused.”

Dorival also emphasized the good phase of the team and the consolidation of the new generation that is emerging in the Seleção.

“We have a committed and dedicated group. The new generation is honoring the jersey and showing their quality. I am very satisfied with the performance and the result.”

The Brazilian National Team will face Colombia next Tuesday (2) at 10pm, at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California (USA), in a match that will define the leadership of Group D of the Copa América.
