Flamengo are well known to be an attacking side and one that plays with a whole lot of flair. The latter days of Jorge Jesus seemed to lack that but many blamed it on the speculation surrounding his future until he eventually left for Benfica.
In his press conference, Torrent says he has a lot of respect for his predecessor Jorge Jesus and wants to bring his own attacking brand of football to the club with corresponding titles for the fans to celebrate and be proud of.
“I respect Jorge Jesus a lot, because he won everything with Flamengo. We will have our own style and, little by little, we will implement this great club. We are going to change little by little because we have to respect a winning project. Our style will be similar in the sense that we are two offensive coaches, but with small differences. We came here to continue winning titles. I think the Flamengo fans will like it. I’m very happy to be part of this great club and great nation” said Torrent, in the first press conference by FlaTV.
Torrent also spoke about his long term relationship with Pep Guardiola and how it played a major role in him accepting the Flamengo manager job.

“I talk to Pep often. There is a friendship, besides the professional. When he heard about Flamengo’s interest, he told me not to let the opportunity pass. He encouraged me to accept this challenge that is something that happens once in a lifetime”
Torrent led the team to his first training session later on Monday and a lot is already expected from the Spanish manager in Brazil.
