Brazilian National Team coach Fernando Diniz complained about the olé chants in the loss to Argentina at Maracanã. Fans protested after the team’s third straight loss and the first at home in the history of the South American Qualifiers.
There’s a lot of improvement to be made until the next World Cup, and Brazil will be back to official games only in the middle of the year at the Copa América.

“The fans have the right to do whatever they want. It comes and we have to deliver our best. The fan is passionate and wants to win, so he has the right to boo. I think shouting hello to Argentina is a bit much. So much so that the people who spoke were booed by the audience that was there. But booing, being restless with the team because they’re not winning is extremely understandable. For the rest, we have to know how to live with the boos and the pressure. He (fan) wants to win and play well. I think the team played well, but didn’t win. And when that happens and defeat comes, it’s a normal fact,” said Diniz in the press conference after the match.
“I’m going to say the same thing I said when Fluminense won the Libertadores: you can’t think that life is just statistics, if it’s just statistics everything is very bad. But if we analyze it as a process of change, of players, there were many things. Today we had three players who played in the last World Cup, Argentina had almost a complete team. And playing like this, with full confidence, because if Argentina lost today, like Uruguay lost, the public would accept it differently. So performance is fluctuating. Against Colombia I said that we played better most of the time. And when we say something, it doesn’t have a big impact. The Argentina coach watched the same game as me, he agreed.”
