Diego Costa is a free agent after not having renewed his contract with Botafogo and is already looking for his next adventure. The 35-year-old striker, who was at Wolverhampton in the Premier League a year ago, could continue his career in Brazil.

The footballer was offered to Fortaleza, although there are still no concrete negotiations that have advanced, reported the Globo network. The team from the state of Ceará lost the final of the Copa Sudamericana against the Quito League last season and will have the opportunity this year to seek revenge by once again qualifying for the continental tournament.

Diego Costa, former center forward for the Spanish National Team, Atlético de Madrid and Chelsea, played 15 games and scored three goals last semester with Botafogo. His best game was against Bahia, when he contributed two goals in a 3-0 victory.

Fortaleza’s 2024 season

Fortaleza will officially start the season tomorrow when it plays Horizonte at the start of the Cearense Championship. Then, in mid-April, they will begin their journey in the Brasileirão and around that date the group stage of the Sudamericana will also begin.

The team led by the Argentine Juan Pablo Vojvoda, who was considered to replace Dorival Júnior in São Paulo, already has two players for the center forward position: Juan Martín Lucero and Thiago Galhardo.

Yesterday, Luquinhas, a midfielder who spent the last two seasons in the MSL, was presented as a reinforcement. Other additions in this transfer window are Tomás Cardona, Moisés and Santos.
