Striker Galeno is synonymous with goals. The Maranhão player has scored 13 goals in the current season for Porto. He was called up for the first time to wear the Brazilian National Team jersey and doesn’t hide his excitement about being part of the delegation in London. On Saturday, Brazil will face England at Wembley in the match that marks coach Dorival Júnior’s debut in the position.

“My mind still hasn’t fully processed it. I can’t believe I’m here with these great players. I had that reaction of crying, calling my family, I’m very happy to be here,” he stated.

“I believe that everyone has to believe in their dreams, nothing is impossible. But it all happened so fast, right? My life unfolded in ways I never imagined. It’s a great pride,” added the player.

Galeno left the country early. He played in Goiás football in 2016 and then moved to Europe. The striker was developed in the youth ranks of Trindade, where he turned professional and stood out in the Goiano Championship campaign, scoring five goals in ten matches. He was then transferred to Grêmio Anápolis before moving to Portuguese football in 2016. Later, he played for Portimonense, Rio Ave, and Braga before joining Porto.

With dual citizenship, the player born in Barra do Corda also received an offer to play for the Portuguese National Team, but he dismissed the possibility.

“I won’t change my mind. It has been my dream since childhood to represent my country, my Brazil. Before Dorival called me, I already had this opinion of representing Brazil,” said Galeno.

“You can be sure that this call-up will be marked in my life. This jersey will go into a frame in my house. It will be well kept to show to my children, my grandchildren, that I represented my country. So, you can be sure it will be well preserved,” he concluded.
