Danilo, one of the most experienced players in the Brazilian National Team, with two World Cup participations in his resumé, could not hide his expectations towards the new cycle of the team, now under the command of Fluminense coach Fernando Diniz.

“I hope that this work by Diniz can be a successful one, which is the main objective, and that it can rescue the pride of Brazilians, the desire of Brazilians to see and cheer for the Brazilian team. It was the goal before. When the result does not come, it generates a distancing. The goal is to win and generate this affection, this strength,” he said during a press conference.

Bringing back the people

One of the main missions of the Brazilian National Team is to bring back people to their day to day activities. The last World Cup title came in 2002, and some fans have grown less fond of the players and what they represent. Nonetheless, Brazil had a great reception for this first match against Bolivia.

“Human heat and temperature heat… It’s very satisfying to be here. We played a super classic of the Americas here 11 years ago. I remember it was an incredible party, the hymn stopped and continued to the chapel. Coming back here is really cool, because upon arrival at the hotel with a full entrance, people excited to see the Selection is something that motivates us. It gives even more pleasure to play for the Brazilian national team,” he started.

“I think it’s important that we play more in our country, with our people. Increase synergy. It has always been our trademark. It is our mission to rescue this identification with all the people, because it is only good for Brazilians. Brazilians have many challenges on a daily basis and football has always been a very important outlet, which motivated everyone in general.”

He also said that Brazil should play more in the North and Northeast of the country. The only problem is having grass in good condition for the games, which is what him and most players value the most performance-wise.

“I think we can play and we should play more often in the north and northeast, where there are people to push us. If the grass is good, it’s great. The grass is something that, for us, is important. The way we work, from first-pass football, to dominating and thinking about the next move, the pitch influences a lot. We have seen in the Brazilian Championship, far from wanting to criticize, but the pitch is very important. That’s where the show takes place.”
