Dani Alves deposited the 1 million euro bail to the Spanish court and will be able to leave jail on provisional release. This way, the footballer will be released while awaiting the resolution of the various appeals filed regarding his four and a half year sentence for rape.
“We inform that the bail payment by Daniel Alves is recorded in the account of the 21st section of the Barcelona Court,” the court stated in a press release. The court had granted the measure in favor of the athlete last Wednesday, although his legal representatives had not been able to gather the sum of money until now.

The lawyer of the former FC Barcelona full-back, Inés Guardiola, is expected at the Brians 2 penitentiary center in Catalonia to finalize the procedures and soon secure Alves’ release, who has been imprisoned since January of last year. The defense appealed the sentence seeking acquittal, while the prosecution also appealed the ruling, but to increase the penalty.
To grant him provisional release, the Spanish court also demanded that the footballer surrender his Spanish and Brazilian passports to prevent escape. He must also maintain at least one kilometer distance from the victim.
