Argentine Tomás Cuello was on the field in Athletico Paranaense’s last eight matches, all for the Brasileirão, starting half of them. With coach Wesley Carvalho, Cuello has been playing wide on both sides of the attack.
In the last round before the break due to FIFA Date, Furacão drew 1-1 with RB Bragantino, vice-leader of the championship, at the Ligga Arena. The Argentine states that the squad will take advantage of this period to work hard and emphasizes that a place in the Libertadores is the club’s objective in the Brasileirão.

“We want to fight for a place in the Libertadores, so we have to put together a good sequence in the final stretch. We have to use this FIFA Date period in a positive way,” he highlighted.
When the championship returns next Wednesday (18), Athletico visits Grêmio before facing leaders Botafogo, also away from home. Cuello expects two difficult matches, highlighting the direct confrontation with Grêmio, who have three points more.
“We have two difficult clashes, one of which is a direct confrontation for a place in the G6. We know that they will be two very difficult matches, because these are well-qualified and strong teams playing at their stadiums. So, we have to prepare well, study both teams and look for positive results,” he said.
