São Paulo’s left-back Welington, 22-years-old, will stay at the Brazilian club for now. His transfer to Russia’s CSKA was almost done, just lacking a few details, but there was not enough time as the transfer window of the country closed.

According to Brazilian news outlet UOL, the talks have been ongoing for about a week. The player is under contract with São Paulo until 2024. He is also the first option on his position for the Copa do Brasil clashes against Flamengo because Caio Paulista got hurt.

The deal advanced yesterday (14), but the bureaucratic part of the agreement with Fifa could not be done. This means that Welington stays at São Paulo until the end of this season.

He was with the Pre-Olympic Brazilian National Team in Morocco and did not play against Internacional on Wednesday (13).
