Cruzeiro’s ethics and discipline committee opened an investigation against former president Wagner Pires de Sá on Tuesday night, giving the president’s management at least 10 days to prepare a defence.
The approach was based on a collection of materials presented to the committee, according to the Minas Gerais club. The former Fox executive will be judged in his absence if he does not file a defence. As a result, the case must be heard by the deliberative council.
Councilor Herones Márcio Amaral Lima was chosen as the process’s rapporteur. He was the only director present at the 2018 meeting who voted in favour of the year’s corrected balance sheet.
The club even requested that Wagner Pires and his vice-president, Hermnio Lemos, be kicked off the team last year. But the current administration, on the other hand, discontinued and restarted the procedure from the beginning.
Wagner Pires de Sá was elected by Cruzeiro in October 2017 and resigned in December 2019 after a series of allegations of violations throughout his tenure, as well as Raposa’s unusual relegation to Série B do Brasileirão.
Last year, the former director was named as a defendant in a case that sought to investigate whether his administration had any problems. During the process, Cruzeiro also filed lawsuits against the former president and other members of his administration. Wagner Pires is a well-deserving Fox advisor.
It remains to be seen how this case would be settled but it’s safe to say things don’t exactly look good for Wagner Pires at the moment.
