Corinthians will face Cruzeiro in the Women’s Super Cup final

Corinthians is the second finalist of the 2024 Women’s Supercup. This Thursday afternoon (15), the “Brabas” overcame Ferroviária 2-0 at the NeoQuímica Arena in São Paulo. With goals from Mariza and Gabi Zanotti, Timão secured their spot in the final alongside Cruzeiro, who secured their place after a victory against Avaí/Kindermann. The final will take place on Sunday (18) at 10:30 a.m. at the Neo Química Arena.

The match started evenly, but as minutes passed, Corinthians showed superiority. At the 22nd minute, Brabas found the net, but the goal was disallowed. The score was officially opened at the 27th minute with a goal from Mariza after a cross from Yasmin. Shortly after, Gabi Portilho excelled in an individual play and passed the ball to Gabi Zanotti, who scored Timão’s second goal.

In the second half, both teams returned at similar levels and had good chances. Despite some opportunities, the “Guerreiras Grenás” couldn’t reduce Corinthians’ lead. The match ended with a 2-0 victory for Timão.

Corinthians is the only team to reach the final in all editions of the Women’s Supercup. With titles in 2022 and 2023, the “Brabas” are aiming for their third victory in the most prestigious year in the competition’s history. In 2024, the CBF will award R$600,000 to the competition winner and R$400,000 to the runner-up.
