There was lots of drama on the evening but a 15th minute red card will go on to decide the game.
Yan Sasse was expelled after elbowing in Araos and left Coxa with one less. From there, Timão took hold of the match, but once again did not create as many chances.
There was even more drama when Léo Natel forced a penalty for Corinthians.
Jô stepped up to take the penalty and he missed it twice. Wilson put it out.
Soon after, the same Natel opened the scoring kick from outside the area that deflected in Robson. In the sequence, however, a perfect counter-attack by Coritiba leveled the scores with a goal by Sassá.
The second half was where things heated up. Corinthians made two substitutions and brought in Éderson and Gustavo Mosquito. Those substitutions paid off as Timao started to see more of the ball and looked way more lively in attack after both players came on.
Just in the 49th minute of the second half, made up for his earlier penalty misses and scored to hand Corinthians a 2-1 lead at the time. It was relief for the striker as his celebrations showed it.
Substitute Gustavo Mosquito put the game beyond doubt in the 87th minute when he fired home from close range to hand Timao a guaranteed win in Itaquera.
The victory takes Corinthians to four points in three league games – the team has one game less, to be played against Atlético-GO, for the first round. Coritiba have four losses from four games.
Corinthians will return to the pitch next Wednesday as they take on Fortaleza in Itaquera. On the other hand, Cortiba faces Bragantino on Sunday in Bragança Paulista.
