The 3-0 victory in favor of Corinthians was defined with two goals in the second half. Poliana opened the scoring in the while Ingryd and Diany closed the scoring in the final minutes of the Derby to wrap up a convincing victory for the hosts.
The first match which held the previous week had ended in a bore 0-0 draw at Allianz Parque. However, there will be no such repeat of a dull encounter.
The duel off the field marked, for the first time, a semifinal of the Brazilian Championship in women’s football transmitted either by streaming, closed television and open channel. It showed how the women’s football in the country had developed and improved their standards over recent years. The latest developments will no doubt be a positive sight for fans all over the country.
To buttress the point made above, Band, ESPN and Brasileirão Feminino’s Twitter broadcasted the semifinal matches, which means that women’s football has changed.
To improve everything, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) decided to add the VAR for the semifinal. In addition to requests from the coach of the canarinho, they inserted GPS to measure the intensity of the game in the Brazilian Championship and try to match with the feel from European teams.
The game started in exciting fashion. Corinthians dominated the first half and put pressure on Palmeiras during most of the first stage. With a more offensive presence, Timão sought the attack and opened the scoring in the 21st minute with Poliana. In a free-kick from Andressinha, Poliana climbed higher and headed in the net. The alvinegra team had another clear opportunity when Yasmim hit a free kick on the crossbar. Verdão showed problems to carry the ball until the attack failed to bring danger to the Corinthians goal. The first half ended that way with a goal in favour of Corinthians.
Palmeiras needed to add more to their attacking game and even appeared more in the offensive sector in the second half. However, they once again failed to bring danger to the Corinthians goal. Timão defined the half in additions with two goals from players who left the bench: Ingryd scored a beautiful Olympic goal that was a joy to watch. There was one more to come as Diany completed the score in favor of the hosts. This time, Ingryd who already had a goal of her own now turned provider.
