Vitor Roque and Endrick are the two great promises of Brazilian football for the future. Both the Athletico Paranaense striker and the Palmeiras attacker were sold to Spain, a country to which they will move in 2024: Tigrinho will join the ranks of Barcelona, while the youngster from Verdão will join Real Madrid.

Although expectations for both players are high, André Cury, Roque’s agent, believes that his client does not enjoy the same media coverage as Endrick. In fact, he argued that the promise of Palmeiras was sold to the Merengues by the media and not because of his talent itself, which he considers inferior to what is said.

Roque’s agent accuses the media of “inflating” Endrick

“It exploded with the media, with marketing. About Endrick, I think the media sold him and now they charge this price,” Cury said in dialogue with the newspaper AS, via UOL.

“They created an expectation much higher than it could be. Not even Neymar had such high expectations. I’m talking about decent players who didn’t get a raise like that, let alone at that age like Endrick. Obviously, you push the guy for something he’s not ready for and you expect a lot more from the player, but sometimes they don’t get there.”

Endrick was sold to Real Madrid for 35 million euros plus another 25 in variables, according to the journalist specialized in transfers, Fabrizio Romano. The operation was closed in December 2022, although the player would only join in July 2024, when he is of legal age.

In any case, Cury is sure that Roque is much better: “I think that if Vitor played for Palmeiras he could score twice as many goals because there the ball goes to the striker all the time. If you look at Endrick’s goals, now I don’t know, but of the eight or nine goals he’s scored in his career, seven were inside the six-yard box and off the rebound.”
