Amidst this dilemma, Conmebol deliberates its options, choosing not to rush the decision-making process. Presently, there are two vacant spaces reserved for plaques, which will be awarded to the 2023 and 2024 champions. Beyond that juncture, Conmebol must select from a range of possibilities:
- Expanding the base of the cup to create space for additional plaques.
- Reducing the size of the existing plaques to accommodate new additions.
- Commencing a new trophy without further plaques.
Still, Conmebol possess a two-year window for reflection and deliberation. The Conmebol Libertadores final, a spectacle of soccer, will unfold as Fluminense and Boca Juniors engage in a face-off at Maracanã, commencing at 5 pm (Brasília time) on November 4th. Should the contest conclude without a victor in regular time, extra time and a penalty shootout will decide the ultimate champion.
