Bahia has a bigger wallet since it became part of the City Group and with that advantage it wants to form a star team. His next target is Santiago Arias, the Colombian full-back with more than a decade of experience in Europe and more than 50 games with his national team, including two World Cups.

The footballer, also scouted by River Plate of Argentina, has been free since he left Major League Soccer’s FC Cincinnati at the end of last year. At 32 years old, he is recognized for his dedication and his ability to play both in defense and attack on the right side of the field, as he demonstrated during his time at Atlético de Madrid and PSV, among other teams.

According to Brazilian and Colombian media, Bahia accelerated its intention to hire him until December 2025. For the 2024 season it has already added Everton Ribeiro, Jean Lucas and Caio Alexandre to its roster, among other figures.

Acquired by the City Group, owner of Manchester City and other institutions in the world, Bahía has an ambitious hiring and large investment plan on its agenda. In this way, they seek to fight high and avoid what happened in the last Brasileirao, when they were saved from relegation only on the last date.

A win to get excited

Bahía beat Jacobina 5-0 for the Baiano Championship, in the match that marked the debut of Everton Ribeiro, the most brilliant addition in this market. The former Flamengo player was the scorer of the team’s second goal that flourished in front of his audience at the Arena Fonte Nova.

The team led by Rogério Ceni thus achieved its first victory in three games in the state competition and is preparing for the start of the Brasileirao in April. Without continental competitions, he will be able to focus all his energy on that tournament.
