Premier League teams don’t seem to get tired of looking at Brazilian football to recruit new talent. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are interested in Flamengo youngster Matheus França, who had already been linked with a potential move to Newcastle in January. At 19, the Brazilian sensation is making an impression with the Mengao.

França took part in eight out of 13 possible Brasileirao fixtures, while he also participated in three Copa Libertadores matches. Despite his limited playing time, the midfielder managed to find the net twice, proving he’s capable of playing at this level. Transfermarkt claims his market value is €5m, but Romano claims negotiations will be between €20m and €25m.

Other Brazilian youngsters on the move

Chelsea’s reported interest on França is just another case of a European giant going after a promising Brazilian talent. The Blues have already secured the signing of Andrey Santos, who will finally join the club this summer after staying at Vasco on loan last season.

There are many other cases of young players being linked or moving to the Old Continent soon. Endrick has already been acquired by Real Madrid, while Barcelona are closing in on Vitor Roque’s signature, whereas Marcos Leonardo is reportedly on the radar of several clubs.

Since transfer prices have gone through the roof in recent years, it makes sense that European teams now try to identify generational talents before they become a household name and their price tag becomes unaffordable. Hopefully, these clubs have enough patience to help these promising youngsters blossom into world-class players.
