Chapecoense have secured an immediate return to the elite of the Brasileirão after gaining promotion from the Serie B with some games to spare.
Under the guidance of head coach Umberto Louzer, Chapeconese secured promotion with four games in advance.
This comes after their 2-1 victory over Figueirense at the Arena Condá, on Tuesday night.
Moccelin Paulinho and Derlan were on the score sheet for the home side as Goncalves pulled one back for the visitors late in the second half from a spot kick. However, Chape did just enough to win the game.
Chapecoense sits one point behind the current league leaders America MG and can still finish above them if they can get victories in all four remaining games of the competition.
Speaking to the media after the win, Umberto Louzer reiterated on how he was pleased with his laid down targets for the club and was also pleased with the extra icing on the cake following their promotion to the Serie A.
“I am very happy for the invitation I had to come here. When I arrived, the objective was to avoid relegation at the state level and to guarantee the permanence in Serie B, and I said that I wanted something more. I am happy for the growth and the work from the beginning. It is a pleasure to see that the duty has been fulfilled” he said.
