His words
Ednaldo Rodrigues:
“I closely followed the commitment, focus and commitment of the players and coaching staff in this Women’s World Cup. Unfortunately, Brazil’s elimination was premature and the result of the national team fell short of expectations. Now, it’s time to absorb the result and calmly analyze everything what happened in this cycle.
I already anticipate that this result will in no way change the purpose of the CBF, under my management, to continue investing consistently in women’s football as a whole. On the contrary, we are going to intensify this investment. Coach Simone Jatobá is currently at Granja Comary with the Under-17 Selection and, in December, she calls up the Under-15 national team for the second time in history. We will also implement, later this year, during the school holidays, the Brazilian U-15/17 Championship, involving all regions of the country. Competition that, in a short term, will reveal almost 1,500 new players.
It is with seriousness, work and commitment that we grow. This World Cup awakened Brazil to women’s football and, along with the fans, new sponsors came.
We had the greatest journalistic coverage in the history of the Brazilian Women’s National Team, not only in Brazil, but also in Australia. The efforts of the communication companies and the dedication of the press professionals, who dedicated a relevant space in their vehicles to the preparation of the national team, brought to Brazil and to the world exciting images and moments. A universe that previously existed only in men’s football.
We will now have an Olympic cycle ahead of us and we will remain dedicated to moving forward. We will make the necessary investments for Brazil to participate in the Olympic Games, as well as in the next competitions, with even more support in search of the best results.
I take it with me and thank all the love and support from the fans with the Brazilian Women’s National Team. This was certainly the greatest achievement of all.”
