In response, the CBF’s Legal Department presented the athlete’s defense to downplay the severity of the infraction.
Despite the efforts made, on Friday (2), FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee decided on the minimum punishment for the player, according to the Disciplinary Code, deeming it a serious foul punishable by two matches.
The CBF, along with the COB, emphasizes that it will spare no effort to overturn the excessive sanction imposed by FIFA and reaffirms its rationale in a new appeal to be submitted at the appropriate time, requesting a stay of the punishment to allow Marta to participate in the Olympic semifinals, marking another historic moment for Brazilian football.
