The forward, currently at Boca Juniors, was offered to the board of directors of the Porto Alegre team and the figures for his eventual hiring are viable within the institution’s coffers, according to Globo. For now there is nothing concrete, but Grêmio has to put together the best possible squad for next season, when it will play in the Copa Libertadores.
The experience of hiring an experienced footballer went perfectly with Suárez, who finished the Brasileirão with 17 goals and 11 assists, which made him a key piece of the team that finished as runners-up in that tournament. Cavani is the same age, 36 years old, and wants to continue winning championships.

Cavani works to recover from injury
The forward’s time at Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain is well remembered, although his performance since arriving at Boca was not the best: he has three goals in 16 games. Currently, he is recovering from a tear in the rectus femoris of his left leg that sidelined him from the playing fields a month ago and left him out of a possible return to the Uruguay National Team.
Cavani is in Salto, his hometown, doing exercises to get ready and, for now, he is expected to return to training with the Copa Libertadores runners-up on December 27.
