Cássio’s spot as one of the great idols of Corinthians is already secured, but he keeps on improving his marks. Last Saturday (15), the goalkeeper made two penalty defenses in a shootout against América Mineiro to guarantee the Timão in the semifinals of the Brazilian Cup (Copa do Brasil).
He now has made 31 penalty saves in the club, with six in 2023. At 36 years of age, Cássio has been with Corinthians since 2012, where he conquered the Copa Libertadores, the Club World Cup and two Brazilian League titles.

“I’m not going to give weapons to the enemy, ok (laughs). There is a whole ritual of reading and talking. Goalkeepers also help. It’s all together. That’s why I say it’s not me, maybe I defended it, but the guys had the personality to hit. So it’s Corinthians. The crowd filled up, had a big party, we conceded the goal and they screamed even more, went to the penalties and continued singing. In the general context, everyone was committed and things went well,” he said about the penalty shootout.
