Casemiro managed to limit Manchester United’s 4-3 defeat against Bayern Munich by scoring two goals in the final minutes of the Champion League Group A game, last Wednesday. However, these late goals were not enough to mask the collective weakness of the Mancunian team according to the English media.

Although the Red Devils started encouragingly, they were unable to resist after conceding two avoidable goals in just four minutes in the second half. Heads dropped and the team seemed to collapse, failing to get back into the game.

The Brazilian midfielder ran a lot without managing to impose his physical domination against the Bavarian mastery. When United had possession, Casemiro asserted himself by scoring twice but those goals came too late.

For Paul Scholes, former Mancunian legend, the team still suffers from a lack of mentality. Even if the final gap was closer than against Brighton, United collapsed again after conceding goals. According to Scholes, there was a big difference in level between the two teams, especially in the second half. Despite this honorable performance, Casemiro cannot escape criticism in the face of his team’s recurring shortcomings.
