Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was on the score-sheet for Real Madrid but it only turned out to be a consolation as they ended up losing the game 2-1 in surprising fashion to Alaves. Even worse that they result came on their own home turf.
Alaves took the lead after just five minutes of the game when Nacho handled the ball in the area and a penalty was given.
Thibaut Courtois followed the penalty to the right spot but the shot from ex-Arsenal man Lucas Perez was too much for the goalkeeper to handle.
It was a game that saw a decent number of chances but both sides turned out to be very wasteful in front of goal. The first half ended in favor of Alaves. Los Blancos woes were compounded by the fact that they lost Eden Hazard to injury.
The second half started even worse for Real Madrid. Just four minutes after the restart, Courtois gifted Alaves another goal when he threw the ball straight at Joselu and allowed the striker to poke in an easy goal to extend his side’s lead.
Real Madrid continued to pressure with chances but they were ineffective in front of goal. They pulled one back in the 86th minute when Casemiro fired home from a rebounded shot.
Isco was inches close from levelling matters in the 90th minute but his curling shot hit the woodwork.
The result now means Real Madrid are without a win in their last three league games and have already lost the same number of games as they did the whole of their last league campaign (three).
