The Brazilian National Team is close to facing Uruguay in the fourth round of the World Cup qualifiers and left-back Carlos Augusto, who plays for Inter Milan, in Italy, is aiming for his first opportunity as a starter with the Brazil shirt. The player said he likes coach Fernando Diniz’s style and is used to being more offensive in Italian football.
“It’s a different style and I really like that style, being on the ball a lot, putting pressure on. Whether or not Italy works more defensively, but in the position I play, I play a bit like a winger, because we play in a 3-5-2, so practically a winger, I’m more offensive, practically on the line of the attackers. And in this position you have to do both very well, the offensive and defensive part. The only difference is between working in a line of five or four (players), who have to be a little more attentive to closing the line, but I don’t think that will be a problem”, he assessed.

Regarding his career so far, the player recalled the path he took until he was called up and said he was “the ugly duckling” in the youth categories.
“I was always the ugly duckling at the base. I even changed positions, attacker, midfielder, defender, I did everything. When you come alongside these players, you think that it was a learning experience, it was good for me to grow as a person. I just have to be grateful for these moments”, he analyzed.
The team’s next challenge is against Uruguay. Carlos Augusto spoke about his expectations for the clash and does not expect it to be easy against the Uruguayans.
“As we saw, there are no more fools in the Qualifiers. Of course, the Uruguayan team has a great history, so we have to be well prepared to enter the match focused. We know it will be difficult, especially playing at their home ground. So, it’s about being focused and giving our best”, said the player.
The Brazilian team takes the field to face Uruguay this Tuesday, at 9pm (Brasília time), at the Centenário Stadium, in Montevideo.
