After several months of uncertainty regarding the future of Carlo Ancelotti, the Italian signed a new contract with Real Madrid, thus removing rumors of a possible departure in the summer of 2024 towards the Brazilian National Team.
At the time, Ancelotti tried to deny on more than one occasion that there was an agreement with Brazil despite the insistence of the Brazilian press, who had received information from the board managed by Ednaldo Rodrigues about total optimism about his arrival at the Canarinha.
However, whether due to the issue of Ednaldo’s dismissal or because Real Madrid was faster, what happened between Ancelotti and Brazil was a matter of salt and water.
Regarding this topic, and with the renewal signed, Carlo Ancelotti spoke without filters about the issue of Brazil and the reasons that led him to accept the renewal with Real Madrid.

The Italian coach opened the year with a press conference prior to matchday 19 of LaLiga in which he was asked about various topics about his squad. However, at a certain point, the topic of its renewal and its possible withdrawal was touched upon.
When asked if the Real Madrid bench will be the last of his career, the Italian answered the following:
“Yes, but it doesn’t have to be in 2026. I hope I can be (at Real Madrid) in 2027 or 2028. I like Madrid and I want to stay here.”
During the press conference, Ancelotti was asked if there was something real with Brazil and about Ednaldo’s statements, who stated that he saw him as Brazil’s coach in the Copa América and the merengue coach did not hesitate to respond as follows:
“The reality is that everyone knows it, Real Madrid also knows it, that I have had contacts with the president, with the one who was the president of that period of the Brazilian Federation, who was Ednaldo Rodrigues. And I want to thank him because he has shown me a lot of affection and interest in coaching the Brazil National Team.”
“This has made me (feel) very proud, very honoured, but all this depended on the situation I had with Real Madrid, which was clear to everyone. Then, in recent months, Ednaldo Rodrigues is no longer the president of the Brazilian Federation, but this is what has happened.”
“I have obviously had contact, as I have said and I repeat, I want to thank him because he has shown me a lot of affection, but things have gone the way I wanted: to stay here.”
