had more possession of the ball and had better chances. But their early dominance paid off in the 25th minute when Cano took advantage of Léo Gil’s pass following a counter attacking situation to open up the scoring.
Sport had two great chances in the first half, one in the 17th minute with Leandro Barcia but couldn’t get pass Fernando Miguel’s great goal keeping. They also had a chance in the 46th minutes with a goal down but failed to capitalize on it as well. The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Vasco.
In the second half, Sport relied more on speed after trailing on goals. The home team had a better performance going forward minutes into the second period, but Vasco in the 52nd minutes poured cold water on their parade and scored their second goal through Cano who grabbed his second of the day. The Lion had a good chance with Marquinhos in the 63rd minute and continued to attack till the end, but were unable to find the goals to equalize.
