The Campeonato Brasileiro was considered, by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), the strongest league in the world for the second consecutive year, ahead of the English Championship (the Premier League) and all other European competitions.
The survey considers the performance of teams at continental level. With great success in the Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, the Brazilian teams helped to raise the level of the Brasileirão internationally. Spain, Germany and Italy close the top-5, which excludes the French Championship, currently in sixth place.
