Midfielder Bruno Guimarães is missing the ball. The player is literally counting the days to take the field as a starter for the Brazilian National Team. He hopes to start the game this Wednesday against the United States, in Orlando, at 8pm (Brasilia time). Coach Dorival Júnior has not yet announced the 11 starters for the second friendly match before the debut in the Copa América.

In the press conference held on Tuesday (11) before the stadium training session, the Newcastle midfielder made it clear his desire to play in Orlando.

“Those who are coming in want to show their service. It won’t be different with us. I want to play. My last game in the Premier League was on the 20th of last month. It will be a great game, everyone committed to performing their best and seeking victory,” said the native of São Cristóvão, Rio de Janeiro.

Bruno Guimarães was on the bench in the 3-2 victory against Mexico on Saturday, but came on in the second half. He is one of the most communicative players on the National Team and said he is feeling very well in the group assembled by Dorival Júnior. Brazil has been training in Orlando since the 30th for the Copa América, which will open on the 20th.

“I’m a guy who likes to talk, to converse. I’m feeling very good in this group. To be very honest, it’s the time I feel most at home in the National Team. Perhaps because I’ve played in the World Cup and now I’m in the cycle from the beginning,” said the player, who played 11 of the 12 games since the end of the last World Cup.

“I always listen to the younger ones, the older ones, and try to feel good to perform my best on the field. There are still many things I need to experience, I’m only 26 years old, but it’s a very nice start with Dorival for me,” added Bruno.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
