He will replace Casemiro who will now miss out on the upcoming fixtures after recently testing positive for coronavirus.
This was the fifth drop in the selection of games valid for the third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
The matches will take place at Morumbi and at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo respectively.
Prior to Casemiro, Tite had already lost midfielder Philippe Coutinho, midfielder Fabinho and defenders Rodrigo Caio and Éder Militão. The latest exclusion of Casemiro would come as a blow to Tite’s plans although he still has more than enough firepower to call upon as a replacement.
Lucas Paquetá, Felipe, Diego Carlos and Allan were called to replace the five aforementioned names that all missed out due to one reason or the other.
In addition to these problems, coach Tite already knows that he will not be able to call on PSG superstar Neymar for the first game against Uruguay. The forward is being treated for an injury to the adductor muscle of his left leg and may not be fit in time for that fixture as it stands.
As a result, Flamengo striker Pedro was called up.
Left-back Alex Telles has recovered from Covid-19 and is also available for selection as well.

The Seleção leads the qualifiers with two victories in two games; 5-0 win over Bolivia and 4-2 win against Peru.
Once again, the Seleção are massive favorites to continue their winning streak in their upcoming games even though the matchup against Uruguay won’t be exactly ‘easy’.
