In the last game before the Tokyo Games, the Brazilian men’s Olympic team claimed an easy win against Serbia’s under-21 team on Tuesday. The game ended in a 3-0 victory for Brazil.
Left-back Guilherme Arana, who stars in the Brazilian Championship with Atletico-MG, opened the scoring at Rajko Mitic Stadium, with a great goal in the first time.
Flamengo star Pedro scored two more goals in the second half. It is now just about 44 days until the start of the Olympic Games proper.
The players are now left with an anxious wait for the Olympic Games squad. As per the CBF, it has been confirmed this will take place on June 17 (exactly seven days from now). Coach André Jardine will only be able to pick 18 names. This will also strongly depend on the players ready and released by their respective clubs. Brazil is in Group D of the men’s soccer tournament at the Olympics, along with Germany, Côte d’Ivoire and Saudi Arabia. The tournament will officially begin on July 22, with Brazil starting their campaign against the Germans, at Yokohama International Stadium, the same venue for the 2002 World Cup final.
