The men’s football final at the Paris Games will feature a trio of Brazilian referees. Ramon Abatti Abel, Rafael Alves, and Guilherme Camilo have been assigned by FIFA to officiate the match between France and Spain this Friday (9) at 1 PM (Brasilia time) at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
This is the second consecutive international tournament of significance with the participation of Brazilian referees. At the Copa América, the final between Argentina and Colombia had Rafael Claus as the main referee, accompanied by assistants Bruno Pires and Rodrigo Correa. In the VAR booth, Rodolpho Toski led the reviews and was assisted by Danilo Manis, Daniel Nobre, and Pablo Gonçalves.

Just like at the Copa América, Brazil had the largest number of professionals assigned to the Paris Olympics among the 89 referees called, with seven. In addition to the men’s trio, Edina Alves, Neuza Back, Fabrini Bevilaqua, and Daiane Muniz were also called. Both men and women officiated in matches of the men’s and women’s football tournaments.
Edina and Neuza, in particular, are used to breaking barriers for female refereeing in Brazil and worldwide. Edina surpassed the mark of Carlos Eugênio Simon and became the record referee for World Cup matches, with eight games. Neuza, in turn, was part of the first female refereeing trio in a men’s World Cup, as well as being part of the first all-female quartet in a Libertadores and having worked in over 100 matches in the Série A of the Brazilian Championship.
Refereeing the final
For the final between France and Spain, the Brazilian trio will be assisted by Dahane Beida from Mauritania as the fourth official and Jerson dos Santos from Angola as the fifth official.
