Vinicius Junior became an active voice against racism in sport, especially after what happened last May, when he received all kinds of insults from a group of Valencia fans in a LaLiga match and ended up being expelled in front of the complaints. That case generated commotion in Spain, but also in Brazil, where action is already being taken on the matter so that similar events do not occur.
In this framework, the state of Paraíba, located in the northeast of the country, enacted the law called “Vini Jr.” by which a match can be interrupted “in the event of a complaint or recognized manifestation of racist behavior by any person present.” This is apart from the civil and criminal sanctions that may also be imposed against those responsible.
The regulations also establish that a meeting will be terminated in the case of “racist conduct” committed “jointly by a group of people.” The same if there is a repetition of that behavior.

Educational campaigns against racism in stadiums
The law not only aims at punishments, but also at prevention. For this reason, it will be mandatory for all stadiums located in Paraiba to “disclose and carry out educational campaigns” about racism.
“I believe that education against racism must be at the center of our efforts to promote equality and human rights around the world,” the Real Madrid winger said recently, announcing that he will collaborate with the United Nations to eliminate discrimination.
