Brazilian players defend Fernando Diniz’s work despite bad results in the South American Qualifiers

Coach Fernando Diniz is well regarded among his players at the Brazilian National Team despite the latest bad results he has been achieving under their command.

Yesterday, Brazil lost to Argentina 0-1 at the Maracanã stadium and a lot of questions were made, even doubting that Brazil will improve in the upcoming year, and the possibility that Carlo Ancelotti will be the new coach seems distant and yet unconfirmed.

It was Brazil’s first home loss in the history of the South American Qualifiers. And there was a big mayhem before the game, with a confrontation between the police and fans in the stands, which delayed the game in 30 minutes.

What the players said

Marquinhos: I’m with Diniz, he’s my coach, I really like him, he’s a person who deserves to be here, he’s worked really hard. If we are patient with the results… Now is a difficult time, but it will certainly bring us to a better position, with better results. In football we know that sometimes people don’t have that patience, but we ask them to be patient because he is an excellent coach.

Bruno Guimarães: Everyone here has a lot of confidence in Diniz’s work, there’s no shortage of work. We trained hard every time, hard, and I believe we were better in the game, we had the best opportunity, we didn’t win, but the players’ support remains 100% with Diniz.

Douglas Luiz: He certainly has the support of the entire group. Now, after the game, everyone said that we are with him. We don’t know what will happen in the next call-up, but he has our full support.
