Orlando Pride announced this Thursday (14) the signing of midfielder Luana, 30 years old. The player signed a contract until 2025, with the option to renew for another season. She left Corinthians at the beginning of the month, after not renewing her contract.

“I’m thrilled to join Orlando, as it is a great club in a privileged location, and where I will be able to play alongside amazing players,” Luana said of her signing. “This is a very important step in my career, as I’ve always wanted to play in the NWSL, a very competitive and well-structured league. I hope I can make a smooth transition and adapt as soon as possible, so that I can help my teammates and the Club achieve great things.”

At the United States club, she will also be teammates with defender Rafaelle, midfielder Angelina and attacking midfielders Adriana and Marta. Orlando is the NWSL team with the most Brazilians on the squad.

The country has seven more players in the North American league: right-back Bruninha, champion of the last edition with Gotham FC, defender Lauren and striker Debinha, both from Kansas City Current, midfielders Ary Borges, from Racing Louisville, Julia Bianchi, from the Chicago Red Stars, and forwards Andressa Alves, from the Houston Dash, and Kerolin, from the North Carolina Courage, who was elected this year’s best player in the championship.

Luana was revealed professionally by Centro Olímpico-SP and played for Avaldsnes IL, from Norway, Jeonbuk KSPO, from South Korea, and PSG before arriving at Corinthians. At the French club, the player spent two and a half seasons and won two titles: the French Championship (2020/21) and the French Cup (2021/22). In total, there were 23 games, four goals and one assist.

The midfielder is a key player in the Brazilian team and became a starter in the cycle to the last World Cup. She has 37 games, two goals and won the 2022 Copa América.
