After three victories (over Bolivia, Colombia and Ecuador), the Brazilian team plays its last game in the Pre-Olympic group stage this Thursday (1), against Venezuela, at the Brígido Iriarte Stadium, in Caracas. The match will start at 8 pm (Brasília time).

Leader of Group A with nine points, the team seeks to maintain 100% success and will face an important test – playing under pressure from the opposing fans, who must push Venezuela all the time, as the game defines the other place in Group A for the final quadrangular of the Pre-Olympic.

If the Brazilian team wins or draws, Ecuador will continue in the competition. If Venezuela wins the match, they will qualify. One of the two teams will join Argentina, Paraguay and Brazil itself in the decisive phase.

It will be the seventh clash between Brazil and Venezuela in the Pre-Olympic. The team’s balance now under the command of Ramon Menezes is much higher: there are five wins and a draw. In these games, the Brazilian team scored 18 goals and conceded just two.

In the last three matches between the two teams in the Pre-Olympic, Amarelinha did very well: they won 5-0 in the 1996 tournament, won 3-0 in 2000 and achieved another elastic score in 2004: 4-0.

For coach Ramon Menezes, the team’s trend is towards growth in production. He has been detecting improvements in the team’s performance since their debut, against Bolivia, on January 23rd. In the last game, in the 2-1 victory over Ecuador, on the 29th, the Seleção appeared more loosely and dominated the midfield most of the time.
